SUNSHINE CRUISERS

A new band which hopes to inject new life into the local music scene is currently rehearsing for their first gig in March.

Venus Cruiser, who are also recording material for a demo tape to be circulated among record companies in the early summer, will play at Jilly's Disco, Manchester, on Thursday, March 28.

The four-piece outfit which perform rock music in the Foreigner mould comprise members of two local bands – Elegy and Demetrius. They are all in their early twenties. On vocals and keyboards is Adam Berlyne from Bury; Demetrius, who lives in Swinton, is the guitarist; Dave Board (DB to his friends), from Ordsall, is bassist and backing singer, and Barry J. Krell, from Bury, is drummer and percussionist.

The lads are managed by Andy Burns who owns the Crimson Sound Studios at Urmston. He says: “The music scene locally is pretty dead at the moment but I think Venus Cruiser have a great chance of making it big. “I suppose they produce what could be best described as middle of the road rock which should appeal to a wide range of listener.” Watch out for them and judge for yourself.
