Many many years
ago, when
salfordmusic
was merely a young floppy-haired Perry boy, there was an
electro-industrial noise outfit called
As Able As Kane,
or
AAAK, or
Triple A K, call
'em what you want. They were from the neighbouring kingdom of
Prestwich (Boo!) and they started out as a four-piece but ended up
as a two-piece, comprising Paul Rawlinson and Simon "Ding" Archer.
They got rave reviews, they got a couple of small record deals, they
released some stuff. And then.... Nothing.
So what happened?
Ding explains:
"Our demise was
brought about by the theft of my studio. As well as stealing all of
the bands equipment, the thieves also took every single floppy disk,
DAT tape and sample tape that we had." Bummer.
Fast forward
twenty years and AAAK are back. So what happened? Ding has
since relocated to Salford (Hurray!), opened
his own recording
studio in Bexley Square, and then...
"Out of the blue,
I got an email from a German record label who specialise in
industrial music, and consequently we're re-recording two records
that we released in '89 and '90 and we'll be playing some gigs in
Europe on the back of that."
Excellent. And
here's a little taster of AAAK. A video for their song
"Time".
