Mr Heart at Tiger Lounge, Manchester, January 2010.

Born in early 2009 from the shadows of the city, Mr Heart have spent the last year assaulting the equipment and ear-drums of Manchester’s finest venues and gig-goers. Described at their debut gig by Cath Aubergine (independent critic and Manchester gig stalwart) as ‘a perfectly formed, abrasive yet melodic alternative pop machine’, the all-female three-piece have grabbed attention from the out-set.
Tamsin A’s octave flitting vocal oscillates between fragile and powerful, complimenting the thought-provoking soundscapes and off-kilter rhythms and melodies supplied by Kin (bass) and Helen Suzy (drums). The unexpected time-signatures and extreme dynamics during their live set ensure that you are hauled along with them on their frenzied ride, and whilst the songs often have a simple driving riff behind them there is plenty more to maintain interest from their audience.
The songs from their first demo ‘Rakes for Hands’ have received plentiful airplay on Northwest radio stations ‘All FM’ and ‘Salford City Radio’, and April 2010 will see the band release their first official EP.
