Five Go Mad in the other city

by jc. 27.04.10.

Sounds From the Other City rolls into town again this Sunday for its seventh year of musical mayhem up and down Chapel Street. A few new venues have been thrown into the mix this year including The Crescent and the Salvation Army building on Oldfield Road.

salfordmusic of course will be concentrating on the Rovers Return venue where five of Salford's stellar acts will be on stage from 4.30 onwards, bringing you aural delights and visual spectacularisations. The wildly theatrical Kingfishers Catch Fire will be kicking off the whole shebang, shortly followed by harmonious sensations Death to the Strange. If that wasn't enough, we then have some seriously menacing shizzle from The Black Knights, a wedge of beauty from the ever-affable John Herring and a slice of the delectable from serial seducers Sandbox.

The good news about the Rovers gig is that it's FREE. That's right ladies and gents, you pay nada, zilch. Excellent.

This is the first time that SFTOC has featured a dedicated "Salford only" stage so I reckon it is our civic duty to go down there and dance our tits off. And even if it wasn't our civic duty, we'd do it anyway 'cos the bands on show are a must. salfordmusic has witnessed all but one of the acts on show and they are all knockout. No messin'.

If, however, you fancy popping along to one of the other venues on the day/night then you can stump up fifteen quid for twelve hours of non-stop musical entertainment. Can't be bad. All details are on the Sounds From The Other City website. Go for it.
