Chim-chiminee.

Saturday
afternoon. I think I'll have a stroll round Chimney Pot Park.
Blimey, it's changed round 'ere! Rooftop gardens! What next? Starbucks?
Anyway- yes- Chimney Pot Park was the venue for the annual Super
Saturday Spectacular or
Langworthy
Festival or whatever they call it nowadays. Which was basically some
bouncy castles and stuff for kids to do, a few places to buy some scran
("healthy" or "life-shortening" were the two options) and wall-to-wall
live music. Yay! What more do you need?
I think this was all organised by the lovely people at Salford
Community
Media
Partnership (SCMP) and in attendance were people from the
Salford Star,
The Salford Foundation,
Salford Online and
God-knows-who-else. Plus, plenty of punters turned up so it was a great
old day.
The music varied from some young people who just got up and gave us a
song,
to people like The Damp who
played their debut gig, a smattering of rap and fine EmCee work, Salford
band The Daldinis, legends
like Albert Thompson,
plenty of collaborations and headliners
Death to the Strange.
Hats off to Mark and Renee Byrne for
organising
all the music, keeping the show rolling and generally making sense out
of the predictable chaos of an all-day live show. Renee even had the
time to get up and join
The Misfits on stage for a number and then sing with
Suite 57. What a gal!
